| Renfro Hunting Club
actively manages its deer heard. We have been involved with the Managed
Lands Deer program for many years and have been a Level 3 MLDP participant
for almost a decade. Each year we record deer observation data,
perform spotlight counts and have a browse surveys performed. All
of this data is used by biologist to producing
a harvest recommendation that the state reviews as part of our MLD
application process. The state issues the club Buck and Doe tags
which dictates the number of Bucks and Does
we are allowed to harvest each year.
Last year we participated in a Doe relocation program where we
harvested 110 Does and received 10 bred Does from South Texas.
We will be looking into the feasibility of continuing this program
in the future in an effort to continue to better the genetics of
